Overweight Diabetic Men Can Improve Their Sex Life By Losing Weight.

Being obese has long been known to be detrimental to your health and this is even more so if you are suffering from diabetes. Unfortunately India is fast becoming the diabetes capital of the world and the number of obese people is growing almost at the same rate. The combination of the two can have very negative effects, not only on your general health but also on your sexual health and more so in if you are male.

A recent small study done by the University of Adelaide (Australia) has found that men with type 2 diabetes who suffered from erectile dysfunction and lower urinary tract infections had significant improvements for both ailments after losing weight. Though this study was done on a relatively small number of subjects, it does show a direct correlation between losing weight and erectile dysfunctionin diabetic men.

Losing weight not only improves sexual function but also improves the overall sexual experience for both the partners because losing weight through a combination of prudent dieting and exercise improves stamina in bed as well. Make sure you consult your doctor before embarking on a diet and exercise plan. Eating sensibly and exercising regularly will help you control your diabetes and enjoy your sex life as well.

Hypertension, Obesity and their Effect on Male Erection

Some high BP medication can have the side effect of causing erectiledysfunction or loss of libido.
You can reduce them by doing the following:

  • Reduce your salt intake.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Quit Smoking.
  • Reduce your alcohol intake.
  • Use medication under the strict supervision of a good cardiologist.

If you feel any of the two then consult with your cardiologist so that he can change your medication.   Never ever self prescribe high blood pressure medication or change it with out the explicit consent of your doctor.
Being overweight can have an impact on your self image, and if you feel low about your physical appearance it can have a adverse effect on your erection as it will effect your arousal level. Being obese will also reduce the blood flow to your penis and cause erectile dysfunction.

The obvious ways to control your weigh is to exercise regularly and avoid unhealthy and junk foods.

The Connection Between Erection problem and Diabetes

The Connection Between Erection problem  and Diabetes.

India is the diabetes capital of the world and this is one distinction we could have done without. There are almost 51 million people living with diabetes in India, which is a staggering statistic.  Most people who suffer from this disease don’t realize that diabetes can cause sexual dysfunction in both men and women. Diabetes can cause damage to blood vessels and nerves and this in turn leads to erectile dysfunction in men and loss of libido and vaginal lubrication in women.

Research has suggested that erectiledysfunction maybe a precursor to diabetes, especially in men in the age group of 45 years or younger. So men who suffer from diabetes need to understand that among other things it can also affect different aspects of your sexuality and sexual function. Neuropathy or damage to nerves, including that to the penis means that the signal from your brain when you are sexually aroused does not reach the penis and can cause erectile dysfunction (ED).

In women diabetes can cause vaginal dryness due to decreased vaginal lubrication, uncomfortable sexual intercourse and lack of desire for performing sexual activities. The cause of this can be the reduction of blood flow to the genital area (tissues), nerve damage and hormonal changes.

The important thing for people who suffer from diabetes is to realize that their condition can cause sexual dysfunction and they need to monitor and control their blood sugar to be able to continue enjoying sex. If in spite of having the blood sugar level under control, they still experience erectile dysfunction or loss of libido, they need to get in touch with a qualified sexologist and not be shy to discuss their sexual problems as he can get them to enjoy their sex life once again through proper counseling and medication.
